The communication and job satisfaction
The communication
According
to the social exchange theory, employee satisfaction is influenced by the
company, the leader, and peers (Wang et al., 2020). Employees are able to
share intangible resources through communication because of their relationships
with managers, colleagues, and the company (Cropanzano & Mitchell, 2005).
According to Mehra & Nickerson and Men & Yue (2019), communication is a
process of reciprocity and mutual influence that results in interdependent exchanges
and boosts sentiments of satisfaction. The organization, the leader, and peers
are the other three levels on which communication takes place (Alegre et al.,
2016).
Employees
can share knowledge, establish connections, and learn about business culture
and principles through communication, all while fostering positive working
relationships with their employers (Men & Bowen, 2017). Employee
satisfaction and reciprocity with the company are influenced by the framework
of social connections and communication they build (Mehra & Nickerson,
2019; Men & Yue, 2019). The organization, the leader, and the peers are the
three levels on which communication takes place, mirroring the three forces
under consideration.
·
Information exchange with the organization
According
to Goldhaber (1999), organizational communication entails the flow of messages
through a web of interconnected interactions that take into account people's
attitudes, sentiments, and abilities. Through an effective communication
system, the relationship between the organization and its employees
strengthens, and employees experience high levels of satisfaction (Berger,
2008). Symmetrical communication and the effectiveness of the
employee-organization connection are positively correlated (Kang & Sung,
2017). Organizational communication fosters social interactions and trust
between the parties involved in a relationship (Uysal, 2016) and helps build a
feeling of community (Blau, 1964).
·
Having conversations with the leader
Employees
need to feel more involved and satisfied in order for communication with the
leader to be effective. When they are heard and acknowledged, employees value a
balanced communication system and report higher levels of satisfaction (Men
& Yue, 2019). The leader's communication style affects the attitudes of and
feelings of the followers toward the leader. Employees feel more pride and
happiness when their leaders communicate with empathy, compassion,
understanding, and honesty (Men, 2015; Men & Yue, 2019).
·
communicating with colleagues
Strong
group dynamics and peer communication determine how well a team works together.
It is a crucial aspect of social connections because it affects how people
share ideas, encourages team members to work together and trust one another,
improves the way roles are defined, and removes the obstacles that come with
change processes (Christensen, 2014). Employees value having regular, honest,
cordial, empathetic, and communicative interactions with their coworkers, and
they are more satisfied with their jobs as a result of their shared
perspectives on the tasks at hand (Robinson & Thelen, 2018). To meet
organizational objectives in the service industry, the tendency toward
specialisation and the division of lobar calls for an efficient communication
system and structured group dynamics
Discussion
Effective
communication can assist to improve morale and keep employees feeling informed
and a part of the team. Gaining knowledge of how effective communication
impacts subordinates and employees will help to increase job satisfaction.
Lack
of communication might result in issues in addition to poor communication.
Rumors and gossip have a negative impact on staff retention, productivity, and
corporate morale. Long-term uncertainty can also lead to emotional stress,
which impairs workers' productivity.
A
good, proper, and effective communication must be fostered by management and
maintained at all times inside the department. The company must also invest in
and encourage management and staff to take advantage of numerous communication
courses and training sessions. In a same vein, it must encourage employees to
seek clarifications if they are having trouble comprehending the tasks given to
them. As both management and employees play their parts in enhancing
communication, this will increase job satisfaction, especially for the
employees. The organisation's goal and objective will be accomplished as a
result of the effects of communication and job satisfaction.
